Anthony Taijeron is a resident of Sånta Rita-Sumai, Guam, and a Democratic candidate for a senatorial seat in the 39th Guam Legislature in the 2026 election. Born and raised on Guam, he enlisted in the U.S. Army for five years, followed by six years of service in the Guam Air National Guard. His military service and the challenges he faced shaped him into someone dedicated to improving the lives of fellow veterans. That commitment led him, together with fellow veterans, to found HMI — I Hinanao, I Magåhet, Yan I Ininna — a nonprofit dedicated to assisting veterans on Guam and in the wider region. The biggest issue facing Guam today is the public’s overall trust in the government. We have to rebuild this trust and bring the people back to playing an active role in improving the island.

Guam's challenges — tourism decline, the cost of living, housing, public safety, our exposure to federal budget decisions — aren't separate problems. They're symptoms of deeper structural issues we've avoided naming directly for years. I'm not offering quick fixes. I'm asking Guam to elect leaders who ask harder questions, who look at root causes instead of surface fixes, and who are honest about how exposed we are — so we can build something more resilient, together.
