For too long, deciding who leads Guåhan came down to whose sign was biggest, whose name you'd heard, or what the rumor mill said at the fiesta. Real information about the people on your ballot was scattered, buried, or simply missing. That's how a community ends up voting on gossip instead of substance — and we were done with it.

So we built the voter guide Guåhan never had: one place, every candidate, the exact same fair format — plus tools that match you to the people who actually share your values. Nothing like it exists for our island. We intend to keep it that way.

Vote Smart Guam is fully nonpartisan and independent. We're not the Guam Election Commission, we don't back any candidate or party, and we do not accept money or contributions from any candidate, campaign, political party, or caucus. Our only side is yours — the voter's. Inafa'maolek in action.

We do not endorse candidates and do not accept funding from political parties or caucuses. Candidates submit their own profiles, positions, and explanations, shown in the same fair format so voters can compare.

How this site works

  1. The roster comes from official GEC filings.Every name, office, party, ballot order, and ballot nickname is transcribed from the Guam Election Commission's official ballot documents — never guessed, never editorialized.
  2. Candidates write their own profiles.Each campaign gets a private claim code and a portal to submit their bio, photos, and Political Courage Survey answers — in their own words. We verify identity and review every submission before it publishes; we never write positions for anyone.
  3. Compiled basics are labeled until verified.Where we've compiled background from public records, it's marked as such with its sources — and it's replaced the moment the candidate submits their own version.
  4. Smart Match runs on your device.Your quiz answers are scored in your browser and never stored or sent. No account is required for anything voters do here.
  5. Corrections get fixed fast.Spot something wrong? Tell us via the contact page and we'll correct it — accuracy outranks everything else on this site.

Who's behind this

Vote Smart Guam is its own independent, nonpartisan group — built and run by a small team on island, with no parent company and no political affiliations. It is free for voters and free for every candidate — and it accepts no money or contributions from any candidate, campaign, political party, or caucus. Questions about how we work? Ask us directly.
